Plant layout guide
Count plants and see rows in a rectangular bed.
Measure and prepare
- Check the units shown for each input. Measure the actual inside dimensions or net area required by this tool.
- Use manufacturer coverage, dose, pack size or your measured flow where applicable. Do not treat example inputs as product recommendations.
- Check the assumptions below, update the starting values and review whole-unit purchase rounding where applicable.
Method and limits
Subtract the free border from both sides of each dimension. Whole positions per row = floor(usable length ÷ plant spacing); rows = floor(usable width ÷ row spacing). The uniform grid does not select appropriate crop spacing.
Worked example
With the editable starting values: 14 plants. 2 rows × 7 plants per row · usable area: 2.2 m²
- Inside bed length (m): 2.4
- Inside bed width (m): 1.2
- Free border on each edge (cm): 10
- Plant spacing in a row (cm): 30
- Row spacing (cm): 40
