Water flow and use guide
Measure flow with a container and estimate water use.
Measure and prepare
- Check the units shown for each input. Measure the actual inside dimensions or net area required by this tool.
- Use manufacturer coverage, dose, pack size or your measured flow where applicable. Do not treat example inputs as product recommendations.
- Check the assumptions below, update the starting values and review whole-unit purchase rounding where applicable.
Method and limits
Collected litres × 60 ÷ filling seconds gives litres/minute. Multiply by session minutes, total daily sessions and days. Divide litres by 1000 for m³ and multiply by your tariff. Assumes constant flow; excludes fixed charges and water-heating energy.
Worked example
With the editable starting values: 3,000 litres in the period. 10 l/min flow · 3 m³ · 6 € variable cost. Constant flow; no fixed charges.
- Collected water volume (litres): 5
- Filling time (seconds): 30
- Minutes per session: 5
- Total sessions per day: 2
