Measure and prepare
- Check the units shown for each input. Measure the actual inside dimensions or net area required by this tool.
- Use manufacturer coverage, dose, pack size or your measured flow where applicable. Do not treat example inputs as product recommendations.
- Check the assumptions below, update the starting values and review whole-unit purchase rounding where applicable.
Method and limits
Length × width, plus the cutting allowance. Divide by the coverage per box and round up. This does not include underlay, adhesive or installation.

- Length (m): 5
- Width (m): 4
- Allowance (%): 10
- Coverage per box (m²): 2.2

From measurements to a complete purchase
A 5 × 4 m room and a second 2 × 1 m area total 22 m². With a 10% allowance you need 24.2 m²; at 2.2 m² per box, that is 11 boxes.
What to check before buying
- Split irregular shapes into rectangles without overlaps. Do not deduct furniture if the flooring continues underneath.
- Apply the allowance once. The layout, cuts and installation instructions determine the appropriate allowance.
- Check the actual coverage and quantity on the packaging. This calculation does not design the layout or estimate adhesive, grout, trims or skirting.
- Calculate each material, size and finish separately. Keep the product reference and check the batch before buying.
